Our client is an established, successful organisation operating in the industrial sector.  We are delighted to be exclusively supporting them on a key, newly created appointment.

This role has been introduced to the People Team to develop and lead a growing academy training centre.  With the support of the Learning and Development Manager, the role will be responsible for the development and delivery of high-quality trades training programs which will equip apprentices, students and employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the manufacturing and engineering industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable trades training professional to play a pivotal role in the development of a flagship training academy based in the North East.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs that cover various technical trades modules including welding techniques and industry safety practices.
• Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders including other trainers and industry experts to develop industry-leading training programs.
• Build a positive learning experiences and drive a culture of continuous development.
• Provide practical and pastoral support to apprentice cohorts throughout their industrial apprenticeship schemes.
• Assess and evaluate apprentices’ technical skills and competence through tests and hands-on assessment.
• Be responsible for the maintenance and set up of the training facility.
• Ensure the training academy promotes best practices by keeping up to date with industry developments, technology and techniques.
• Act as a coach and mentor promoting the Company Values.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

• Be experienced in training and teaching technical trades skills either on site or within a college setting.
• Be an experienced trades professional with recognised welding certifications.
• Have prior experience of working with Apprenticeships and ideally have knowledge of current Apprentice standards.
• Have strong understanding of industry best practices and safety standards.
• Be a confident communicator able to work collaboratively with professionals at all levels.
• Be supportive, patient and able to lead by example.
• Have good initiative, proactiveness and drive to develop an industry-leading academy centre.

The role will be site based so candidates must be in commutable distance to the Newcastle area.  The position offers a competitive salary and benefits package depending on experience.
